Мелодия (Melodiya)
Melodiya was the state-owned record label of the Soviet Union from 1964 until the collapse of the USSR in 1991. As the country's only official record company, it controlled the recording, manufacturing, and distribution of music across the Soviet Union.
Known for its vast catalog of classical music, folk recordings, jazz, and popular music, Melodiya also released licensed albums by selected Western artists, including ABBA, Paul McCartney, Adriano Celentano, Ricchi e Poveri, and Toto Cutugno. Today, Melodiya records are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance and unique place in Cold War music history.
