About
East of the Groove is a personal archive of records built over years of searching markets, fairs, and late nights on Discogs. The collection focuses on Eastern Europe and the former Eastern Bloc — the sounds, labels, and pressings that came from behind the Iron Curtain and beyond.
Why this collection exists
Every record here was chosen because the music matters. Not for rarity alone, not for investment, but because something in the sound or the story made it worth keeping close. Some of these records took years to find. Others arrived unexpectedly at the right moment.
Why this website exists
A record without context is just an object. This site exists to give each one its story back — the artist, the moment, the pressing, the reason it matters. The journal is where that writing lives. The collection is where you can browse what's here.
Why almost everything is for sale
I collect to experience these records deeply, not to hold onto them indefinitely. When something leaves the collection, it goes to someone who wants it — and its story, preserved here, remains. The page stays live. The record moves on. That feels right.
