Elton John

Elton John is a British singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist born on March 25, 1947, in Pinner, Middlesex, England. He has been one of the most commercially successful artists in rock and popular music, particularly throughout the 1970s, accumulating over 200 million records sold across his career. His catalog includes more than 50 Top 40 hits, nine No. 1 singles, and seven consecutive No. 1 albums in the United States. He has received five Grammy Awards and two Academy Awards, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

His albums were licensed and released on state labels across several Eastern European countries, including Supraphon in Czechoslovakia and Melodiya in the Soviet Union, among others. These pressings were produced in limited quantities for controlled domestic markets, often with simplified or altered sleeve artwork, and are now sought by collectors both for their regional scarcity and as artifacts of how Western popular music was distributed under socialist cultural policies. Condition-graded copies with original inner sleeves or inserts are particularly valued.
